Episode 123 - Thanksgiving (2023) - Eli Roth Grindhouse Holiday Horror
Monday Mar 11, 2024
Monday Mar 11, 2024
This week Thanksgiving comes very late or extremely early as we delve into Eli Roth's long overdue Grindhouse inspired Thanksgiving (2023).
We discuss the film at length looking at its roots within grindhouse horror and comparing it with the original trailer from the Grindhouse double bill of Robert Rodriquez's Planet Terror and Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof. We also look at how it has developed across its long journey to be made and how it leans more into late 90s and early 2000 horrors like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Valentine then it does necessarily 70's/80's grindhouse.
So join us as we arrive late to thanksgiving dinner, the turkeys rotted and well past carving but we're still ready to sit round and say thanks for all the bloody carnage this holiday horror has too offer.

On this Valentines week the Cast Me To Hell boys aren't serving you love but a big old fight night showdown as we finally scrap it out over Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula.
If you've listen to the podcast over the years or listened to our earlier Overrated Horrors episode you will know a fight has been brewing as Seb believes this film is overrated and Rob believes this is one of the most influential horrors of its time. Will Seb change his mind and decide this is deserving of being a Top 100 Must See Horrors or will he defeat Rob into seeing the error of his ways...Lets get ready to rumble till we are bled grey like Keanu.
We discuss the film at length talking about Coppola's surrealist vision, the casting choices and the adaptations of the novel as many deem this to be the most definitive version, while others feel it misses the point entirely, find out where we stand.
So get your stakes, gather your swords because like Van Helsing coming at you, only one of us is keeping our heads.

Monday Jan 22, 2024
Monday Jan 22, 2024
This week we return to our yearly feature of January Dumping Ground where we search the local tip for the best and worth films released in the often maligned January film release.
January's can be a hard time for film's and often studios dump their content there when they have little faith in it. Often these dumped films are not well received or become flops at the box office. We are here to delve into them and see if they live up to the title or are they hidden gems in a pile of shit.
So join us as we have a look at the creature feature The Relic (1997) starring Tom Sizemore (RIP). Will it reach the heights of other 90's creatures features like Jurassic Park, Species, Mimic or Ben Affleck's Phantoms or will in be deserving of the dumpster like Jurassic Park 2, Species 2, Mimic 2 and Ben Affleck's Phantoms (Okay we haven't seen that one, is it awful?).
